He joined the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) in 2012 and quickly became active in its organisational and electoral work. In 2014 he contested the Lok Sabha elections from Jamui, Bihar, and won. During his term he served on several parliamentary committees and held the role of Chairman of the LJP’s Central Parliamentary Board.
