Early life and background

Darshan Girish Nalkande was born on 4 October 1998 in Wardha, Maharashtra. Raised in the same town where he began his cricketing journey, he is the son of Girish Nalkande and Sapna Nalkande. Career

Darshan is an all-rounder who bats right-handed and bowls right-arm fast-medium. He came through youth ranks and represented India at the Under-19 level, wearing jersey number 23 for the India U-19 side. Domestically, he plays for Vidarbha in competitions such as the Ranji Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

He made his List A debut in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 2 October 2018, and his first-class debut for Vidarbha in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy on 1 November 2018. Earlier in his career, Darshan played a key part in the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy, where his bowling performances helped his team secure the series; he claimed four wickets in one of the first innings during that campaign. Those displays at youth and domestic level brought him to the attention of Indian Premier League scouts.

In the 2018 auction ahead of the 2019 IPL season, Kings XI Punjab acquired Darshan. He was bought for a fee reported at Rs. 30 lakhs and later retained by the franchise for the 2020 IPL season.
