Early life and backgroundDeandra Jalisa Shakira Dottin was born on 21 June 1991 in Rock Hall village, St Andrew, Barbados. Raised in St Andrew, she attended Frederick Smith Secondary School and grew up competing in athletics as well as cricket. As a youth athlete she won multiple medals across regional junior competitions in javelin, shot put and discus before focusing on cricket. She is Barbadian by nationality and practices Christianity.
Career
Dottin made her international debut for the West Indies in June 2008, appearing in both One-Day International and Twenty20 International cricket during a tour of Ireland. Over a career that spanned more than a decade she emerged as one of the team’s leading all-rounders, combining aggressive right-handed batting with right-arm medium pace bowling.
In ODI cricket she played 143 matches and scored 3,727 runs at an average of 30.54, registering three centuries and 22 half-centuries. Her highest ODI score was an unbeaten 150.
