Early life and backgroundDeepak Chaurasia was born on 23 December 1972 in Sendhwa, Barwani district, Madhya Pradesh. He grew up in and around his native village and attended Government High School in Sendhwa. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Indore and later earned a diploma in mass communication from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi. His early education and upbringing in Barwani shaped his entry into journalism.
Career
Chaurasia began his journalism career in 1993 with the newspaper Sanjha Lokswami and went on to work as a correspondent for various publications. Early assignments included significant ground reporting such as coverage of the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus in the 1990s. He was involved in the launch of Aaj Tak in 1995, the privately produced broadcast that aired on DD Metro, and later held roles at DD News as a consulting editor in 2003. He returned to Aaj Tak in 2004 and subsequently worked with STAR News (which became ABP News).
Across a long television career, Chaurasia has served as editor-in-chief at India News and later at News Nation between 2019 and 2021. He also helped form DC News and Views Private Limited in 2016 with his wife. From January 2023 to March 2024 he worked as a consulting editor at Zee News. In April 2024 he launched a news website called Aage Se Right that produces written and video content, including material for YouTube. He has hosted several Hindi debate and news programs, including Tonight with Deepak Chaurasia, the Deepak Chaurasia Show, and Deepak Chaurasia Khoj Khabar, and has interviewed a range of public figures during his career.
