Deepali Noor Biography
Deepali Noor is an Indian costume designer from Mumbai known for her work across Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema. Beginning with the 2006 Tamil film Sll
Early life and backgroundDeepali Noor was born and raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She attended St. Anthony's High School and completed her higher secondary education at Sophia Junior College in Mumbai. For higher studies she moved to Chennai and earned a degree in Hotel Management from the Asan Memorial Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology.
Career
Deepali Noor began working in film costume design with the 2006 Tamil romantic drama Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, where she was responsible for costumes worn by lead actor Suriya. From that first project she built a steady career across South Indian film industries, contributing to notable Tamil films such as Madrasapattinam (for which she won the Best Costume Designer award at the 2011 Vijay Awards), Rowthiram, Vettai, Puli, Sarkar and Varisu.
Her credits extend beyond Tamil cinema. In Malayalam films she worked on titles including Run Baby Run, Bangalore Days and Minnal Murali. In Telugu cinema she has dressed actors on projects like Son of Satyamurthy, Sarainodu, and the commercially prominent Pushpa films. For Pushpa: The Rise and its follow-up Pushpa 2: The Rule she was responsible for designing costumes for the full cast, creating multiple versions of outfits to suit different scenes, weather conditions and action sequences while maintaining a cohesive overall look.
Working on Pushpa 2 presented particular challenges: managing thousands of individual costumes across cast and crew, and developing the lead character’s changing wardrobe so it evolved with the story while remaining true to the character’s personality. Deepali has said she prefers creating original costume pieces rather than relying solely on ready-made garments.
