Early life and background

Deepika Singh was born on 26 July 1989 in Delhi, India, and grew up in the city where she completed her early schooling. She attended Air Force School until class 8 before moving to a government school. Deepika went on to graduate from the University of Delhi and later completed an MBA in Marketing from IK Gujral Punjab Technical University.

Before pursuing acting full time, she assisted her father in his business. During her school and college years she took an active interest in theatre, which laid the foundation for her eventual move into television.

Career

Deepika made her television debut in 2011 with the Star Plus drama Diya Aur Baati Hum, in which she played IPS Sandhya Rathi. The role brought her widespread recognition and several industry awards and nominations across multiple ceremonies, including wins at the Indian Telly Awards, Star Parivaar Awards, Gold Awards and the Indian Television Academy Awards.

Following the success of her debut, she made guest or special appearances on other television shows such as Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? (2011), Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (2012), Saath Nibhaana Saathiya (2016) and Kumkum Bhagya: Pyaar Wali Holi (2022).
