Early life and background

Kalenahalli Adaviswamy Dhananjaya was born on 23 August 1986 in Kalenahalli Arsikere, a village in Hassan district, Karnataka. Raised in the same area, he completed his schooling at St. Mary’s High School in Arasekere Taluk and went on to attend Marimallapa College and the Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering. He finished his pre-university course and earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering. His father, Adaviswamy, worked as a government primary school teacher and his mother is Savitramma.

After college, Dhananjaya briefly worked as a software engineer at Infosys before leaving that job to pursue theater. He trained in local theatre as well as with German theatre artist Christian Stückl, and spent time with theatre groups including Rangayana. Those early stage experiences helped shape his approach to performance and prepared him for a transition into film.

Career

Dhananjaya entered Kannada cinema after being noticed by director Guruprasad, who offered him a lead role.
