Early life and background

Dhara Vijay Gujjar was born on 18 August 2002 in Behala, Kolkata, West Bengal. Growing up in that neighbourhood, she developed an early passion for cricket, regularly playing informal games with children in her residential complex. She joined Vivekananda Cricket Academy at age ten and quickly progressed to district-level representation that same year.

She completed her higher secondary education through the open school system and later pursued a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) at Bhawanipur Education Society College in Kolkata. Gujjar is Indian by nationality and lists dancing among her hobbies.

Career

Gujjar’s domestic pathway includes appearances across age-group and senior teams for Bengal. In 2017 she was selected for the Bengal Under-19 women’s side and served as vice-captain; she was also named to the East Zone Under-19 team that year. A year later she took on the captaincy of the Bengal Under-19s and attended a National Cricket Academy camp in August 2018.

Between 2018 and 2019 she experienced injury setbacks, including a shin stress fracture, but returned to form and leadership roles. In 2019 she captained the side that won the Kolkata Cup conducted by the Pal & Chatterjee Cricket Academy, contributing 34 from 29 balls in the final. Her performances at age-group level led to selection for Bengal’s Under-23 and senior women’s teams, where she was later appointed vice-captain.

Gujjar is a left-handed batter who bowls right-arm medium-fast. She has represented multiple domestic outfits: Bengal Under-19 Women, Bengal Women, Rajasthan Club Women, Mohun Bagan AC Women, East Zone Under-19 Women, Bengal Under-23 Women, East Zone Women, India C Women, India B Women, and Mumbai Indians Women. During Bengal’s domestic T20 competitions in 2022 she played for Rajasthan Club Women, scoring 203 runs across 13 matches, including a 63 off 46 against East Bengal Club Women. On 23 January 2023 she produced a big score of 161 from 157 balls against Pondicherry in the 2022–23 Women’s Senior One Day Trophy, striking 24 boundaries in that innings.

In the professional franchise arena, Gujjar was signed by Mumbai Indians Women for the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) season on 15 February 2023 at her base price of Rs. 10 lakhs. She made her WPL debut on 12 March 2023 in the playing eleven against UP Warriorz Women and went on to appear in two further matches during the tournament.
