Dhruv Rathee was born on 8 October 1994 in Haryana, India. He grew up there and later moved to Delhi. In school he followed a science stream with physics, chemistry and mathematics, and went on to study in Germany. Rathee earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and completed a master's degree in renewable energy engineering.
