Early life and background

Dhyan Sreenivasan was born on 20 December 1988 in Kuthuparamba, Kannur, Kerala. Raised in a family active in the Malayalam film industry, he is the younger son of actor and filmmaker Sreenivasan and Vimala Sreenivasan. His older brother is Vineeth Sreenivasan, who works as an actor, director and musician, and the family includes filmmaker M. Mohanan as an uncle.

Dhyan spent his formative years in Kuthuparamba. He enrolled in engineering at Mohandas College of Engineering and Technology but left the program before graduating. Later he completed a certification in visual communications, a step that preceded his move into film.

Career

Dhyan began his film career with a supporting role in the 2013 Malayalam film Thira, a project directed by his brother Vineeth Sreenivasan. From that debut he moved into a mix of comic and dramatic parts, appearing in several well-known Malayalam films across the mid-2010s.

Among his early acting credits are roles in Kunjiramayanam (2015) and the popular comedy Adi Kapyare Kootamani (2015), in which he played the character Bhanu Prasad. He followed those with parts in Mudhugauv and Ore Mukham (both 2016). In 2017 he appeared as Varun in Goodalochana, and that same year he made his directorial debut with the film Goodalochana listed as director on his credits.

Dhyan expanded his work behind the camera and in production in later years. He produced Saajan Bakery Since 1962 in 2021. In 2019 he directed Love Action Drama and also featured in the song “Kudukku” associated with that project. He returned to directing with the 2022 film 9 MM.

On screen, Dhyan continued to act in a range of projects through the late 2010s and into the 2020s. In 2019 he was seen in Kuttymama and Sachin, and in 2022 he acted in Prakashan Parakkatte and Sayanna Varthakal.
