Diana Hayden was born on 1 May 1973 in Hyderabad, India, and grew up in an Anglo-Indian family in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. She attended St. Ann's High School in Secunderabad and later pursued formal training in acting and drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and Drama Studio London, where she concentrated on Shakespeare and received a Best Actress nomination at the studio.

Hayden began working in the events and entertainment space as a teenager, taking on modeling assignments while employed at an event management company. In her early twenties she worked in public relations at BMG Crescendo (India) Pvt. Ltd., where she assisted with managing musical artists.
