Diane Leyre Biography

Diane Leyre is a French model and former Miss France who rose from regional pageants to national prominence. Trained in business, she has worked in realty,

Early life and background

Diane Leyre was born on July 10, 1997, in Neuilly-sur-Seine and grew up in the Paris region. She left her family home at 17, moving into an apartment in the same building as her parents while working to cover her expenses. She began working as a teenager and spent part of her higher education at IE University in Spain, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and International Business. When she started university she spoke only a little Spanish and English; over time she became fluent in both languages in addition to her native French.

Career

Leyre began her professional life working in real estate in Paris before turning toward beauty pageants. In 2021 she won the Miss Paris title, which led to her victory as Miss Île-de-France 2021. Those regional wins qualified her for the national Miss France competition.

At the Miss France 2022 pageant, held in December 2021, Leyre advanced through the semifinal rounds to the top five and ultimately won the crown. Her win made her the sixteenth woman from Île-de-France to take the Miss France title and, at 24, the oldest winner of the competition at that time. During her year as Miss France she took part in public events and television appearances, including Fort Boyard and the French Open, and completed promotional work in Barcelona. While still holding the Miss France title she hosted the daily morning radio show "Le Morning sans filtre" on Europe 2 in August 2022.

After her reign she passed the Miss France title to Indira Ampiot on December 17, 2022. In July 2023 Leyre was selected to represent France at Miss Universe 2023. She had originally been slated to compete in Miss Universe 2022 but withdrew because she felt she did not have adequate time to prepare; the first runner-up took her place that year.

Outside of pageants, Leyre has been visible in charitable and advocacy activities. She has supported fundraising for Ukrainian war orphans and is known for speaking out against racism, discrimination, and homophobia. Early in her life she volunteered as a mentor with the Sainte Raphaëlle Marie association, assisting children in difficult situations.

Public profile

Leyre's public persona combines modeling, media work, and advocacy. She has described herself as a feminist and publicly defended the traditional eligibility rules of the Miss France contest during debates about their relevance. As part of her Miss France appearances she attracted media attention for creative choices such as incorporating a baguette into her regional costume. Her interests include judo, which she practices for strength and confidence, and she has expressed affection for animals, having welcomed a puppy after her Miss France victory.

Personal life

Leyre is French and was raised in Neuilly-sur-Seine. Her parents are André Leyre, a real estate developer, and Sabine Leyre, a former flight attendant. She has one brother. Publicly available information lists her as unmarried. She has spoken about past struggles with body image and how entering pageants helped her regain self-esteem after a difficult breakup.
