Early life and background

Digvijay Singh Chautala was born on 20 February 1991 in Haryana. Raised in a family with a long history in regional politics, he is the son of Ajay Singh Chautala and Naina Singh Chautala. His great-grandfather Chaudhary Devi Lal served as deputy prime minister of India, and his grandfather Om Prakash Chautala was a former chief minister of Haryana. He attended Delhi Public School on Mathura Road in New Delhi and completed his schooling through the 12th grade.

Career

Digvijay Chautala entered formal politics as a member of the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) in December 2018. He holds the party post of secretary. Outside party work, he has been involved in sports administration and serves as president of the Handball Federation of India.

He has contested elections on more than one occasion. In 2019 he stood as an independent candidate in a Haryana Assembly by-election from the Jind constituency and finished second with 37,648 votes. Later that year he was the JJP candidate in the Lok Sabha race from the Sonipat seat, finishing third with 51,162 votes.
