Early life and background
Diksha Dagar was born on 14 December 2000 in the village of Chhapar in Jhajjar district, Haryana. Raised in a family with golf in its roots, her father, Narinder Dagar, is a former scratch golfer and served in the Army. Diksha began wearing hearing aids at age six; around that time her formal introduction to golf began, initially under the guidance of her father at an army course in their hometown.

She attended St. Mary’s School in Delhi Cantt. As a child she engaged in several sports including swimming and basketball, and she has also enjoyed horse riding, table tennis, shooting, and badminton. Diksha plays left-handed and is noted for competing at the highest levels while being hearing impaired.

Career
Diksha’s competitive golf journey began in amateur events in 2012. She made a notable amateur debut in 2015 by playing the Hero Women’s Indian Open and claimed the Eastern India Ladies & Junior Girls title in the Faldo Series India that year.

Across 2016 and 2017 she collected multiple junior and regional titles, and in 2016 she was the only Indian in the top 500 of the world Under-18 rankings. 2017 was a pivotal year: she won on the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour during her professional debut on that circuit and finished with a silver medal when golf debuted at the 2017 Summer Deaflympics in Turkey.

In 2018 Diksha continued to stand out in international amateur competition. She produced the best score by an Indian participant at the Queen Sirikit Cup (Asia-Pacific Amateur Ladies Team Championship) and won the Singapore Ladies Amateur Open.

Diksha turned fully professional in 2019. That year she won the South African Women’s Open, an event on the Ladies European Tour, marking her first professional victory and the first time an Indian golfer had won that title. She was also one of the youngest Indian women to capture a Ladies European Tour event.

She represented India at the Tokyo Olympics (the 2020 Summer Olympics held in 2021) — becoming the first Indian golfer to represent the country at the Olympics — and continued to compete on the Ladies European Tour and other international circuits. In 2021 she was part of the Aramco Team Series in London and earned a team title on the Ladies European Tour. Diksha also won a gold medal in the 2021 Summer Deaflympics, adding to her earlier silver from 2017 and making her one of the most successful golfers in Deaflympics history.

In 2022 she became the only golfer known to have competed in both the Olympic Games and the Deaflympics. She remained active on tours and in 2023 played in events such as the Simone Asia Pacific Cup (part of the Ladies Asian Tour series) and the KPMG Women’s Irish Open.
