Divya Seth Shah was born in New Delhi and spent her formative years there. She attended the Convent of Jesus and Mary in New Delhi and went on to study at St. Stephen’s College, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. Her family includes her mother, actress Sushma Seth, and her father, Dhruv Seth, a businessman. She has two siblings, a brother named Kavi Seth and a sister named Priya Seth.

Divya Seth’s first major screen break came in 1984 when she appeared in the landmark Doordarshan serial Hum Log, earning recognition for the role of Majli.
