Divyanka Tripathi was born on 14 December 1984 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Raised in a family where her father worked as a pharmacist, she grew up participating in school plays and local drama activities. She attended Carmel Convent School in Bhopal and later graduated from Sarojini Naidu Government Girls P.G. College in the same city.

From an early age Divyanka showed interests beyond acting: she completed a mountaineering course at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering in Uttarkashi and trained in rifle shooting at the Bhopal Rifle Academy, where she won a gold medal. She also took part in All India Radio as a young host and was crowned Miss Bhopal in 2003. Before her break in television, she won a regional talent hunt organised by Zee Cine Star’s Ki Khoj in Indore in 2004.

Divyanka began her television career on Doordarshan and first drew wide attention with a double role in the Zee TV serial Banoo Main Teri Dulhann (2006), opposite Sharad Malhotra.
