Edward Sonnenblick was born on 31 December 1969 in Cupertino, California. Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, he completed a bachelor’s degree in botany/plant biology from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California. Before entering the entertainment industry, Sonnenblick spent nearly 15 years working as a chef in California. In 2008 he relocated to India to pursue work in film and television.
