Early life and background

Eijaz Sattar Khan was born on 28 August 1976 in Hyderabad, Telangana. He spent his childhood moving between Hyderabad and Mumbai after his parents separated when he was very young. His mother remained in Hyderabad while Eijaz, his brother and his father relocated to Mumbai. He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School in Chembur, Mumbai, later earning a civil engineering degree after enrolling at Datta Meghe College of Engineering. He also spent time studying at the School of International Service at American University in Washington, DC.

Growing up was difficult for him; family tensions and long periods without contact with his mother shaped his early years. His mother suffered from illness and passed away in 1991. Years later Eijaz sought out and met a sister he had not seen for many years. These early struggles influenced both his personal and professional life.

Career

Eijaz began his entertainment career as a background dancer, appearing in films such as Chachi 420. His screen debut included a cameo in the film Thakshak (1999), followed by a supporting role in Maine Dil Tujhko Diya (2002). He moved into television in the early 2000s, with an early TV credit on Kahiin To Hoga (2003).

Television became a major platform for him. He acted in a string of Hindi serials through the 2000s and 2010s, including Kayaamat, Kkusum, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kkoi Dil Mein Hai. He rose to wider popularity with the lead in Kkavyanjali (2005). On the big screen, he is known for the role of Jassi in the Bollywood films Tanu Weds Manu (2011) and its sequel Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015). Other film credits include Bhanwra (2008), Zilla Ghaziabad (2013), Upstarts (2019) and Shaan (2020). He has also appeared in item numbers and music videos during the 2000s, and has taken roles in web series such as Halala (2019), Mayanagari – City of Dreams (2019), Bhram (2019) and Kashmakash– Chat Talk (2020).

Beyond acting, Eijaz has worked as a concert producer with a broadcasting and media production company and has featured in television commercials for brands including Breeze, Chloromint, TVS Victor and BSNL. He learned to play guitar at 20 and continues to maintain fitness through regular gym workouts.
