Evelyn Lakshmi Sharma was born on 12 July 1986 in Frankfurt, Germany. She grew up in a small German town as the daughter of a German mother and a Punjabi father. Raised in a multicultural household, she developed interests in drama and creative pursuits early on and learned practical skills such as sewing. She completed a college degree in Business Management before beginning a professional life that would span modeling, acting and charitable work.

Sharma’s screen career began while she was still in high school, when she took a small role in the British-American film Turn Left (2006).
