Early life and backgroundFarid Karachiwala was born and raised in Mumbai. He completed his schooling at The New Era High School in Panchgani, Maharashtra, and went on to study law at Government Law College, Mumbai, where he earned a Bachelor of Legal Science and a Bachelor of Legislative Law. From an early age he wanted to practise as a solicitor, a goal he pursued into his professional life.
Career
Farid began gaining practical experience in law by joining his father’s law firm while he was still in college. In January 2002 he became a member of the Bombay Incorporated Law Society as a solicitor. His career advanced when he joined Wadia Ghandy, one of India’s long-established law firms, in 2006 and later became a partner there. In 2012 he and a partner from Wadia Ghandy opened a law office in Delhi.
Farid specialises in corporate and commercial litigation as well as arbitration. He frequently represents banks, business houses and high-net-worth clients in disputes, and his work has taken him to courts and arbitration forums across India, including Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai, Goa, Lucknow, Kolkata and Bangalore.
