Govardhan Ecovillage and social initiatives
In 2005 he founded Govardhan Ecovillage (GEV) with a small group of people and a few cattle. By 2020 the village included a significantly larger human and cattle population compared with its beginnings.

Govardhan Ecovillage has promoted rural development and women’s empowerment through programs that reached thousands of families in tribal areas. The village’s activities have included large‑scale relief and support work: during the COVID‑19 pandemic GEV prepared and distributed large numbers of food boxes for rural and tribal communities.

Recognition and public engagement
Under his direction Govardhan Ecovillage earned multiple awards and recognitions in 2017, including international and national honours for sustainable tourism, green housing and water education, as well as accolades from Indian and international organizations for livelihood and smart‑village initiatives. Gauranga Prabhu has personally received honours from industry and green‑building bodies for contributions to sustainability.

He represents ISKCON at conferences and public forums, including TEDx, and speaks to corporate audiences. He is known for speaking on spiritual awakening, stress management and sustainable living, and has appeared on spiritual programming that reaches audiences in India and the U.K.
