Early life and background
Gautam Singh Vig was born on 27 September 1987 and raised in New Delhi. He attended Guru Harkrishan Public School in the city before pursuing higher studies in Canada, where he completed a master’s degree in Human Resources. Vig’s family includes his father Vijay Vig, his mother Anju Vig and a sister named Ankita Vig.

Vig has spoken about formative ambitions outside of acting; as a young boy he wanted to become a cricketer. During his time in Canada he worked in a bank while studying. He has also recounted a period when he returned to India heavier than he wanted to be, and subsequently committed to a disciplined fitness routine that transformed his physique.

Career
Gautam Vig began his professional life as a model, working for various brands and receiving his first modelling cheque of Rs. 5,000 early in that phase. He made his television debut in 2016 playing the character Ali in the series Naamkarann and his film debut came in 2017 with the role of Sameer in Flat 211.

On television Vig has been featured in multiple soap operas and series. Notable roles include Miraj Ahmed in Ishq Subhan Allah and Surya Seth in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2. He has also appeared in youth and music-leaning shows such as D4 – Get Up & Dance and in the MTV series Nishedh.

Beyond television and film, Vig has worked in web content and music videos.
