Early life and background

Gautami Kawale was born in Mumbai in 1998 and raised in the same city. She attended Ryan International School in Mumbai and went on to study at KC College, where she completed a B.A. in Psychology. She has also pursued formal music study through Trinity College London, completing courses in keyboard instruments and music theory and composition, and studied French language and literature at Alliance Francaise de La Haye in The Hague, Netherlands.

Gautami launched her primary YouTube presence in 2016 when she and a school friend, Abhyudaya Mohan, created the channel Slayy Point. The channel began with a focus linked to cricket fandom but quickly broadened into roast videos, reactions, gaming content and vlogs. Their first video explored public knowledge of the Indian Premier League.

Over the following years Slayy Point became known for a range of popular uploads, including commentary and satire-driven pieces released between 2017 and 2023.
