Ghazal Alagh was born on 2 September 1988 in Chandigarh, India. She grew up in Chandigarh and completed a bachelor’s degree in Computer Applications from Panjab University in 2010. Later, in 2013, she took summer and intensive art courses at the New York Academy of Art, reflecting a long-standing interest in painting and visual arts.

Career

Ghazal began her professional career as a corporate trainer at NIIT Limited in Chandigarh in 2008, teaching software applications including SQL, J2ME and Oracle. In 2012 she launched a diet-planning website, Dietexpert.com, offering personalised plans based on factors such as weight, age, lifestyle and blood group.

In 2015 she co-founded Honasa Consumer Pvt. Ltd., the company behind the Mamaearth brand, and served as its Chief Innovation Officer. Mamaearth focuses on health, wellness and baby-care products and expanded its customer base beyond India to markets such as Bangladesh and Nepal. Ghazal has also founded TheDermaCo and been involved in building consumer brands that aim to offer toxin-free personal-care solutions.
