Giridharan Karunanidhi was born in 1992 and raised in Mylapore, Chennai. He trained formally in the southern style of Kalarippayattu and completed a master-level qualification at the Indian Kalarippayattu Federation in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He lived and worked in the Chennai area and was known locally by the name SaaN Giridharan.

Career

Giridharan built a career as a martial performer, instructor, and promoter of traditional martial arts. In 2015 he established a training center named Kalariyil Kshathriya in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, where he taught students across age groups for nearly a decade. His teaching emphasized classical Kalaripayattu techniques and related practices; he is described as being skilled in forms that included Kalaripayattu, Karala, Angapor, and Kalari yoga.

He regularly performed at competitions and public events and also worked to make training accessible, offering instruction to a wide range of pupils. His work extended beyond teaching: he engaged in local social projects such as efforts to remove invasive vegetation and offered free training to economically disadvantaged students.

Giridharan also appeared on screen. In 2018 he featured in a martial-arts–themed film titled Aadhiyogi, bringing his practical knowledge of the discipline to a cinematic project.
