Gitaj Bindrakhia was born Gitaj Bains on 3 July 1991 in Ropar (Rupnagar), Punjab. He grew up in the village of Bindrakh and spent his early years around the music of his father, the well-known Punjabi singer Surjit Bindrakhia. Those formative experiences watching his father perform shaped Gitaj’s interest in music and performance from a young age.
