Early life and background

Grace Antony was born on 9 April 1997 in Mulamthuruthy, Ernakulam, Kerala. She grew up in a household where the arts were valued: her mother was trained in classical dance and both parents were described by Grace as art lovers. Her father worked as a tile labourer. Grace has said that she began learning dance from an early age and later pursued formal training in multiple classical forms.

She completed higher education at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit in Kerala, where she also undertook postgraduate study. As a young student she participated in dance competitions and trained in theatre, which she credits with building her confidence before moving into films.

Career

Grace began her film career with the 2016 movie Happy Wedding, in which she played the role of Teena. She is primarily active in the Malayalam film industry and has also worked as a model and classical dancer. Her background in dance includes formal study and performance in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi and folk dance.

Her breakthrough to wider public recognition came in 2019 with Kumbalangi Nights, where she appeared as Teena and drew positive attention for her performance. Following that year she took on lead and prominent supporting roles in several Malayalam films, including Thamaasha (2019), Halal Love Story (2020), Saajan Bakery Since 1962 (2021) and Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham (2021).

In 2020 she expanded into short filmmaking, writing and directing the short film k-nowledge, in which she also played the lead role. That same year she received the Movie Street award for Best Actor in a Character Role.

In 2022 Grace appeared in multiple projects: she played Christina in Pathrosinte Padappukal, Sujatha in Rorschach, and Sicily in Chattambi. She also featured in the SonyLIV web series Appan as Molykutty.
