Gunjan Sinha was born on 8 May 2014 in Guwahati, Assam. She grew up in an Assamese family and follows Hinduism. From a young age she showed an interest in dance and began formal training in 2019 under a teacher referred to as Suresh Sir.

Career

Gunjan first entered the national reality-TV scene when she competed on Dance Deewane season 3 on Colors TV in February 2021. She performed well on that show and finished as the first runner-up, gaining attention for her facial expressions and a signature step that became associated with her performances.

Following Dance Deewane, Gunjan continued to appear on television and in music videos. In February 2022 she featured in the Hindi music video Kaali Shirt Waleyaa by Simran Raj on YouTube. Around the same period she took part in The Big Picture, a Colors TV game show hosted by Ranveer Singh, where she joined other dancers in a tribute performance for guest Salman Khan. In April 2022 she appeared in the music video Parwah by Neha Bhasin alongside Rashami Desai, and in May 2022 she was featured in a dance cover of the Bollywood song Whistle Baja 2.0 from the film Heropanti 2.
