Early life and background

Gurmeet Sitaram Choudhary was born on 22 February 1984 in Chandigarh, India, and grew up spending time in Chennai and Jabalpur. He developed an interest in acting and stage performance early on, participating in school drama competitions. As a young man he competed in pageants, winning the title of Mr. Jabalpur and later taking part in the Mr. India contest.

Choudhary comes from a family with a military background; his father, Sitaram Choudhary, served in the Indian Army as a Subehdar Major. His mother is Anmol Choudhary. He has a brother who is a doctor, named Gangaram Choudhary.

Career

Gurmeet Choudhary began his on-screen career in television. His first TV role came in 2004 in the serial Yeh Meri Life Hai, where he appeared as a character named Gurmeet. He went on to work in other regional and national productions, including a role in the Tamil television show Mayavi in 2006.

Choudhary’s breakthrough came when he was cast as Lord Ram in the television epic Ramayan, which aired from 2008 to 2009. That performance brought him widespread recognition and is frequently cited as a defining role in his career.
