Gurmeet Singh Khudian was born on 30 September 1962 in the village of Khudian Gulab Singh, Tehsil Muktsar, Punjab. He completed his schooling at the Government High School in Khudian Gulab Singh and attended DAV College in Malout. His formal education is recorded as up to the 10th standard. Khudian comes from a politically active family: his father, Jagdev Singh Khudian, served as a Member of Parliament from the Faridkot constituency.

Following the formation of the state government, Khudian was sworn in as Punjab’s agriculture minister on 31 May 2023 in the Bhagwant Mann cabinet.
