Early life and background

Gursewak Singh Mander was born on 26 June and grew up in Budhlada, a town in the Mansa district of Punjab, India. He completed his schooling at Government High School, Rampur Mander and Government Senior Secondary School, Boha, and went on to graduate from Guru Nanak College in Budhlada. He is Indian by nationality and is known to have both his ears pierced.

Career

Mander began developing his craft in college through theatre, taking part in stage productions that led him into commercial theatre work. One of his noted solo stage performances was a play titled Suicide, which he took on while building experience in the regional theatre circuit.

Transitioning from stage to screen, Mander started auditioning for film and television roles. He created a YouTube channel in 2016 under the name Gursewak Singh, where he uploaded audition videos to showcase his work and reach casting opportunities.

His on-screen debut came in Punjabi cinema with the 2018 film Rubb Rakha, in which he appeared as an assistant sub-inspector. Over the next few years he appeared in several Punjabi short films and TV productions, including the short Farak (2017) and Shari Mati Ji (2022).

On television, Mander portrayed Nawaab Saab in the 2020 Zee Punjabi series Vilayti Bhabhi, and later played Mehender in the 2021 Zee Punjabi serial Chhoti Jathani, which was also available on ZEE5. He expanded into web and streaming content with roles in the Hindi-Punjabi thriller series Tabbar on SonyLIV (2021) and the Punjabi web series Wah Jugni Wah on the OTT platform Heroz.

In 2022 he took on roles for major streaming services: he played an assistant sub-inspector of the Punjab Police in the Netflix series Jogi and had a small part in the Netflix Punjabi project Cat. That year he also appeared as Sombir in the Hindi-Punjabi web series Takhatgarh on MX Player.

Mander reached a wider nationwide audience with his role as K. P. in the 2023 Hindi-language action crime drama film Animal. In the same year he appeared in multiple Punjabi films, including Mera Baba Nanak, Kamley, Kohli's Night Out, and Mining Reyte Te Kabzaa. The latter title was distributed in multiple languages, with releases in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil in addition to Punjabi.
