Hansraj Raghuwanshi is an Indian singer, songwriter and composer known for devotional songs dedicated to Lord Shiva. Rising from Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh
Early life and backgroundHansraj Raghuwanshi was born on 18 July 1992 in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, and grew up in a family that later moved to Mangal Village in Kunihar Tehsil, Solan District. He attended local government schools in Kasol and Solan before enrolling at MLSM College in Sundernagar. During his college years he studied music and at one point pursued a commerce degree, leaving the B.Com program during his second year.
From a young age Hansraj participated in school singing competitions, though he stepped away from performing while in class 10. In his teens he explored other ambitions but ultimately returned to music. He has described a period of struggle after leaving college: moving to Delhi, taking on odd jobs, and later working in roles such as a dishwasher at his college canteen and as a delivery boy. Savings from those jobs helped him fund the independent release that began his recorded career.
Career
Hansraj released his debut single “Baba Ji” in 2016. Over the next few years he built a reputation for devotional tracks devoted to Lord Shiva and for Hindi devotional and folk-influenced songs. A major moment in his career came in 2019 with the song “Mera Bhola Hai Bhandari,” which brought him widespread attention.
He has recorded a mix of devotional and Hindi songs and is credited as singer, songwriter and music composer. In 2019 he contributed a playback song, “Aadha Bhi Zyaada,” for the Hindi film Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas and made a national television appearance on the singing reality show Superstar Singer while promoting that film.
Hansraj’s discography includes devotional singles such as “Shiv Kailasho Ke Vasi” (2019), “Shankara” (2019), “Shiv Samarahe” (2021) and “Main Shiv Ka Shiv Mere” (2021). He also collaborated with singer Richa Sharma on the 2020 Hindi song “Duntara.” Prior to his breakthrough, he released several Hindi tracks in 2018, including “Shimla Girl,” “Ganga Kinare,” “Ganja Ganja,” and “Baba Badnaam.”
Beyond studio work, Hansraj has performed live at numerous stage shows and events. One noted appearance came in 2022 when he performed at the Isha Foundation on the eve of Shivratri.
