Harmeet Desai was born on 19 July 1993 in Surat, Gujarat, and grew up in the nearby town of Olpad. He attended HMB Sardar High School and later studied at Rajasthan University, where he completed a B.Com degree. Desai has said that he moved between several schools during his childhood because balancing competitive table tennis and regular school attendance was difficult.

Career

Desai emerged as a prominent figure in Indian table tennis from a young age. He started competing internationally as a junior and collected multiple podium finishes in ITTF junior events.
