Early life and background

Harsh Gujral was born Harshdeep Gujral on 17 September 1993 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Raised in a Punjabi family, he attended St. Joseph's Senior Secondary School in Kanpur before earning a B.Tech from Inderprastha Engineering College in Uttar Pradesh. His parents are B L Gujral, a lawyer, and Savita Gujral, a homemaker. He has three sisters: Pooja, Aarti and Deepti.

Career

After finishing college, Harsh began his professional life in the corporate world as a database engineer. He joined RateGain in Noida in 2012 and later worked with several multinational companies including HCL, IBM and TCS. While employed, he performed at open-mic nights and small comedy gigs, developing an interest in crowd-work that deepened during a year-long stint in London.

Returning to India, Harsh hosted his company's annual fest and then made the decision to leave the corporate track to pursue stand-up comedy full time. He started performing regularly at venues such as Canvas Laugh Club and built a live set called "Jo Bolta Hai, Wohi Hota Hai," which he has taken to multiple cities across India and to international audiences in countries including Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.

Harsh also established a presence online with a self-titled YouTube channel. His first upload, "Indian Reality Shows" (2019), became a breakout success, reaching more than a million views within days.
