Harshaali Malhotra was born on 3 June 2008 in Mumbai, where she continues to be based. She attended Seven Square Academy in Mumbai and completed her high school (CBSE) studies, scoring 83 percent in 2024. Harshaali comes from a family that includes her father Vipul Malhotra, her mother Kajal Malhotra who works as an interior designer, and a brother named Hardik. She is of Maharashtrian ethnicity and follows Hinduism.

Career

Harshaali began working in front of the camera very young. Her first advertisement assignment came when she was around two years old, and she went on to appear in commercials for brands including Hyundai Xcent, Pears, Haier, Fair & Lovely, Sony, Horlicks, HDFC Bank, and Apollo Tyres. Early television appearances included roles in series such as Qubool Hai (2012), where she played the young Zoya Farooqui, as well as work in Laut Aao Trisha and Savdhaan India.

Her most prominent role to date is Shahida Aziz, popularly called Munni, in the 2015 film Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Harshaali was chosen for that part after a nationwide search that auditioned a large number of young girls; she began shooting for the film at about six years of age. The performance brought widespread recognition and led to numerous awards that recognize child actors and newcomers. After Bajrangi Bhaijaan she received offers from regional film industries but and her team decided to wait for roles comparable in prominence to Munni.
