Early life and background
Hasleen Kaur was born on 10 November 1988 in the Binnaguri cantonment of Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal, and grew up with ties to New Delhi, which she lists as her hometown. She is the daughter of Sarabjit Singh, a retired Indian Army colonel, and Ikwinder Singh, who served as a principal at Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj. Hasleen has an elder brother, Harsimran Singh.

She completed her schooling at Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, and went on to study at Jesus and Mary College in Delhi. Hasleen pursued a post-graduate diploma in Advertisement, Public Relations and Applied Communication from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication and also took acting training at the Asian Academy of Film & Television (AAFT) in Noida. Academically she holds a bachelor's degree in English literature.

Career
Hasleen began modelling while she continued her education. Early success on the pageant circuit raised her public profile: she was first runner-up at Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2011 and went on to win the Femina Miss India Earth title later that year. After the pageant, she relocated to Mumbai and joined a talent management company, which helped broaden her opportunities in fashion and entertainment.

She has worked across modelling, advertising and acting. Hasleen appeared in a small role in the 2009 Bollywood film Love Aaj Kal, playing the sister of a lead character. Her first lead film role came in 2014 with Karle Pyaar Karle, in which she played the character Preet. In 2022 she was seen in the Bollywood film Mili, credited as playing a character named Hasleen.

Hasleen expanded into streaming drama with a role in the 2022 Netflix series CAT, portraying police inspector Babita Masih alongside Randeep Hooda. She has also featured in brand campaigns and commercials, including a 2020 commercial for J. W. Marriott and a 2022 campaign for Longines connected to the Commonwealth Games watches.

Entrepreneurship and fashion
In 2018 Hasleen founded a marketing company called Creative Cultr, which has produced campaigns for several consumer brands.
