Early life and background

Hetal Yadav was born on 14 January 1980 in Mumbai and grew up in the same city. She practices Hinduism and is a Capricorn by zodiac sign. Her family includes her mother Devyani Yadav, a brother, and two sisters: elder sister Sheetal Yadav, who works as a sports nutritionist, and younger sister Parul Yadav, who is also an actress. Hetal is married and has a son named Viranch Yadav.

Career

Hetal entered the entertainment industry in the late 1990s, starting out behind the scenes as an assistant to choreographer Ganesh Acharya. She later trained under Nimesh Bhatt and spent more than a decade working as an associate choreographer on films and television. Over time she moved into acting, describing choreography as the profession she chose while acting became a major part of her career.

Her on-screen debut came on television, with an early appearance in the series Aahat (1995). She made her film debut in Apartment: Rent at Your Own Risk (2010). As an actress she has built a steady body of work in Hindi television, including roles in long-running soaps and episodic appearances. Notable TV credits include Uttaran (2008), Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (2008) where she appeared in episodic roles, Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi (2014), Balika Vadhu - Lamhe Pyaar Ke (2016), and performances in 2020 such as Biraj Munshi in Barrister Babu and Shivani Rana in Imlie.

Hetal has also combined her choreography skills with acting on projects: she choreographed sequences for shows where she performed, including Aladdin (2007) and Jaat Na Poocho Prem Ki (2019), and contributed choreography for the mythological series Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev (2011). By her own account she has worked on over 30 television shows.

Her work in period drama earned formal recognition in 2022 when she received the Indian Television Academy Award for her portrayal of Bhavanibai in Kashibai Bajirao Ballal (2021).
