Hruta Durgule was born on 12 September 1994 in Mumbai and raised there while her family has roots in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. Her father is Dilip Durgule and her mother is Nilima Durgule; she also has a younger brother named Rugved. Hruta completed her college education at Ramnarain Ruia College, Matunga, where she studied Mass Media with a focus on advertising.

As a child she trained in Bharatnatyam for three years. She grew up in an environment that appreciated theatre—her parents are avid theatre-goers and encouraged her to pursue stage work as a way to develop as an actor.
