Ineya was born Shruti Sawant on 21 January 1991 in Trivandrum, Kerala. Raised in her hometown, she completed primary schooling at Amritha Vidyalaya and attended Fort Girls Mission High School and Manakkad Karthika Thirunnal High School for her higher studies. She later earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Her family includes her parents, Salahuddin S. and Savithri, a brother named Sravan and a sister, Swathi, who is also an actress.

Career

Ineya began performing at a young age, making her television debut as a child artist in the serial Koottilekku and appearing in other tele-serials during her school years. After winning the Miss Trivandrum crown in 2005, she moved into modelling and advertising, which paved the way to a career in films.

Her first film credit as an actor dates to 2005 with Saira. She worked in Malayalam and Tamil cinema, appearing in films such as Dalamarmarangal (2009) and Umma (2011). In 2009 she acted in the short film The Sacred Face, a project addressing child abuse. Her first Tamil feature was Padagasalai (2010).

A significant turning point came with the 2011 Tamil period drama Vaagai Sooda Vaa, for which she received wide recognition. In 2013 she appeared in the thriller Masani and later returned to the genre with the supernatural thriller Pottu in 2017.

In 2016 she played Sophie in the Malayalam women-centric film Girls and commented on receiving more attention in Tamil cinema than in Malayalam films. In 2017 she stepped into the role in Aakasha Mittayee, replacing another actress and describing the part as that of a mature mother with strong scope for performance. She promoted the film on television and comedy shows around its release.

In 2019 Ineya took part in the large-scale historical film Mamangam, portraying the character Unnineeli and preparing for the role with physical conditioning and careful dialogue work. Her performance earned recognition from the Prem Nazeer Foundation in 2020. That year and afterward she also served as a judge on the Malayalam talent show Surya Jodi No.1.

Apart from acting, Ineya has produced a music video titled Mia in 2019, showcased on-screen dance, and planned charitable use of funds raised by the project. She continued to appear in advertising — including a commercial for Flubbers Instant Coffee Mix — and graced the cover of Galatta Magazine in 2019.
