Early life and backgroundIra Trivedi was born on 1 December 1984 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. She grew up in a family with public service connections; her father Vishwapati Trivedi served in the Indian Administrative Service. Trivedi attended Wellesley College in Massachusetts and later studied at Columbia University. She also trained at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre and holds a Yoga Acharya degree.
Career
Trivedi has built a multi-faceted career as an author, columnist and yoga teacher. She published her first novel at 19 and went on to write both fiction and non-fiction. Her books include The Great Indian Love Story (2009), There’s No Love On Wall Street (2011), Nikhil and Riya (2017) and Om The Yoga Doga (2020), a children’s book on yoga. She co-authored a dating advice book, The Desi Guide To Dating, with Sachin Bhatia.
Alongside writing, Trivedi has taught yoga in-person and online. During the COVID-19 pandemic she launched Yog Love, an online studio aimed at promoting health and well-being. She also founded Namami Yoga, a foundation focused on teaching yoga and life skills to underprivileged children. Trivedi has hosted two televised yoga shows: a 60-episode series on Doordarshan in 2018 and a program broadcast on India Today in 2021.

Her mother is Mona, and she has brothers and sisters including Anant Vijay, Anjani and Ishani. Her grandmother, Kranti Devi, was the daughter of Ravi Shankar Shukla, the first chief minister of Madhya Pradesh.
