Early life and backgroundIsabelle Eleanor Chih Ming Wong was born on 15 May 2002 in Chelsea, London, and grew up in Warwickshire after her family moved there when she was five. She attended Bentley Heath Primary School before continuing her education at Shrewsbury School. She is pursuing an undergraduate degree in finance and management at the University of Birmingham.
Wong comes from a sporting family with links to cricket in Hong Kong. Two of her granduncles represented Hong Kong at the national level. Her parents are named Dom Wong and Rachael, and she has a brother called Buster Wong. She is British and her hometown is listed as Chelsea, London. She goes by the nickname Issy.

Career
Wong began playing organized cricket at a young age after moving to Warwickshire. She started attending local cricket camps and joined Knowle and Dorridge Cricket Club at around eight years old. At nine she was selected for the Warwickshire under-11s and progressed through county age-group cricket. In 2015 she helped establish the women’s section at Berkswell Cricket Club.
She advanced quickly through domestic pathways. By 2018 she was involved with Worcestershire cricket and appeared in the School Games National Cricket Finals. In 2019 she became the first girl chosen for Shrewsbury School’s Boys 1st XI. That year she enjoyed success with Warwickshire, winning the Women’s T20 Cup with the senior side and a national competition with the under-17 team.
Her performances earned a place in the England Academy for the 2019–20 season and led to appearances for Southern Vipers in the 2019 Women’s Cricket Super League. In 2020 she signed with the West Midlands regional hub and played for Central Sparks in the inaugural Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. In December 2020 she was awarded a full-time domestic contract by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
Wong has been a consistent wicket-taker in domestic tournaments. In the 2021 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy she took 11 wickets, finishing as the third-highest wicket-taker in that edition. She has been a regular in The Hundred for Birmingham Phoenix across the 2020, 2021 and 2022 competitions.
Overseas franchise cricket has also featured in her career. She played in the Women’s Big Bash League for Sydney Thunder in 2021–22, where she claimed seven wickets and produced a quickfire batting cameo of 43 off 17 balls, including six sixes, against Adelaide Strikers. She later signed for Hobart Hurricanes for the 2022–23 WBBL season but was unable to play because of injury. In 2023 she was purchased by Mumbai Indians at the Women’s Premier League auction.
International career
Wong made her international debuts for England in 2022. Her Test debut came on 27 June 2022 against South Africa at Taunton. She made her One-Day International debut on 15 July 2022 in Bristol and her T20 debut on 21 July 2022 in Chelmsford, both against South Africa.
