Isha Koppikar was born on 19 September 1976 in the Mahim neighbourhood of Mumbai. She grew up in the city where she later pursued higher education, completing a degree in Life Sciences from Ramnarain Ruia College. Her upbringing in Mumbai and early interest in modelling and performance set the stage for a career in film.

Career

Koppikar began her public career through beauty pageants, winning the Miss Talent title at the Miss India contest in 1995. She made her film debut in South Indian cinema with the Tamil film Kaadhal Kavithai in 1998 and entered Hindi cinema with a role in Fiza in 2000. Over the following years she worked across multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Marathi.

She gained widespread attention in Bollywood with high-profile song appearances in the early 2000s, notably the numbers from Company and Kaante, which became two of her more recognisable on-screen moments.
