Early life and background

Ishita Vishwakarma was born on 10 May 2002 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. She was raised in a musical household: both of her parents are singers and her father, the late Anjani Vishwakarma, ran a recording studio. Ishita began formal musical training in childhood with guidance from her parents and later studied under music teachers including Dr. Shipra Sullere at Divisional Bal Bhavan in Jabalpur and Prakash Virunkar.

She completed her schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya G.C.F. No. 2 in Jabalpur, where she took commerce for classes 11 and 12. Her nickname is Kuhu.

Career

Ishita’s early competitive success came in 2015 when she finished as first runner-up in Aawaz Madhya Pradesh, a state-level singing competition. That same year she made her national television debut as a contestant on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs. She did not reach the final round of that show, which she later recalled as a motivating experience that helped shape her determination to return stronger.

Following that start, Ishita appeared on several other televised singing programs. In 2018 she competed on Dil Hai Hindustani and Zee Yuva Sangeet Samraat. She returned to the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa franchise in 2019 and won the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa title that year; the prize included a cash award of Rs. 5 lakh and a car.

Ishita continued to pursue performance opportunities on television and in recordings. In 2022 she was a contestant on India’s Got Talent; during the show a judge offered her the chance to lend her voice for the role of Sita in an upcoming Hindi mythological film titled The Incarnation Sita (as of 2022). Her recorded output includes several Hindi singles released between 2020 and 2021, among them Labb Par Aaye Unplugged (2020), Khayal-E-Ishq (2021) and Meri Sohniya (2021). She has sung in multiple languages, including Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi.
