Early life and background

Iti Acharya was born on 15 July 1994 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. She trained in fashion design and graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi. During her college years she began modelling, which helped launch her into the entertainment and fashion industries.

Career

Iti made her film debut in the Malayalam industry with Kili Poyi (2013). She went on to take lead roles in regional cinema, including the Malayalam feature Kerala Today (2015) and the Kannada films Dhwani and Deal Raja (the latter noted as her Kannada debut year in 2016). Her Tamil film debut came with Semma Botha Aagatha (2018), in which she played the character Bindu.

Beyond regional Indian films, Iti has worked on English-language projects. In 2017 she portrayed Shweta Khatri, an author, in the English horror film Islamic Exorcist. She has also appeared in several short films, such as Hiv (2014), Scream (2019) — a short about child abuse that was screened at the International Children’s Film Festival in Jaipur — and Anukarne (2023). As a producer, she has credits as a co-producer on short films including Mi Amor – a selfish love story (2018) and Aashiq – Phir Ek Baar (2019).

Her screen work extended to music-related projects as well; in 2023 she appeared as a model in the Hollywood music video Love Her Too Much. She has additionally been part of Hindi independent film projects, one of which premiered at the Washington DC Centre and the Harvard University film society.

Pageants, modelling and fashion

Iti Acharya competed in beauty pageants and was crowned Miss South India in 2016. Earlier in her career she worked as a Formula One grid girl. She has been a showstopper at several fashion events, including Blenders Pride Fashion Tour (2017), Bangalore Fashion Week and Karnataka Gracious Fashion Week 2021. At New York Fashion Week in 2022 designers selected her as a brand ambassador for their clothing lines, and her image was displayed on a Times Square billboard. In 2023 she was again featured on a Times Square billboard for the Love Her Too Much music video.

She has modelled for prominent photographers and worked on runway campaigns, and she has said in interviews that at international festivals she chooses to wear and promote Indian designers.

Iti is trained in multiple dance styles, including Kathak, folk, freestyle and belly dance, and has learned hula hooping and kickboxing. She maintains a visible social media presence and often shares fitness and workout content. In recognition of her screen work and public activities, she received the Best Actress Award at the Wall of Fame Awards in 2022.

Iti has held several ambassadorial roles: in 2020 she was appointed a World Peace Keeper and Peace Ambassador by the Wockhardt Foundation.
