Early life and background

Jaan Nissar Lone was born in 1985 in the village of Sheeri in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. He completed his schooling at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Shahkote, Baramulla, and graduated from the University of Kashmir. He later earned a master's degree in Indian and Western music, music theory, and composition from Trinity Music School in London.

Career

Lone built a career as a composer and singer who works across Hindi and Kashmiri music. After finishing his studies in London he returned to India and relocated from Kashmir to Mumbai to pursue music professionally. He founded AR Music Studios, described as Kashmir’s first international music record label, and the production house claims rights to a large catalogue of songs.

He has composed for films, web series and independent releases. Among his film and screen credits are music direction for Shudra: The Rising (2012), a sung contribution to the 2014 film 18.11: A Code of Secrecy, and compositions for the films Pranaam (a song titled “Rann Ki Dahaad,” 2019) and Ginny Weds Sunny (the song “Rubaru,” 2020). His work on “Rubaru” earned him a nomination at the Mirchi Music Awards 2022.
