Early life and background

Jaffer Sadiq was born on 4 July 1996 in Erode, Tamil Nadu. He completed his schooling at Carmel Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Erode and finished his higher secondary education in 2014. He did not attend college. Sadiq grew up in a family with one brother and two sisters; his father worked in business and his mother was a homemaker. He is unmarried.

As a child he developed an interest in dance and took part in school and local competitions. He is known to admire figures such as Rajinikanth and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. A distinctive personal detail is a small infinity-symbol tattoo on his hand, and he has black eyes and black hair. His friends gave him the nickname ara-bodha kannu, which refers to the slightly closed appearance of his eyes.

Career

Jaffer Sadiq built his public profile first as a contestant on televised dance competitions. He was runner-up on Ungalil Yaar Prabhu Deva 2 and later reached the finals of Kings of Dance in 2016 on Vijay TV. He also appeared on Jodi Number One. Those outings led to live performance opportunities at college cultural events and brand shows.

He moved into choreography and teaching, founding a dance studio called Lift Others in Chennai where he trained students and worked on performances. As a choreographer he contributed to television programming, including Colors Super Kids in 2018.

Sadiq’s screen acting began with the 2020 Tamil Netflix anthology Paava Kadhaigal, where he played the role of Narikutty. Shortly after the series’ release he was contacted by director Lokesh Kanagaraj, which led to his casting in films. His first film credit listed is the 2022 Tamil film Vikram, in which he appeared as a gang member. He also performed in Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu (2022) as Rawther.

In 2023 he was involved with several high-profile Tamil films, including Jailer and Leo. He also expanded into Telugu streaming content, appearing as Gumthi in the 2023 Disney+ Hotstar series Shaitan. His on-screen work has earned him industry recognition, including a nomination for Best Debutant Actor (Tamil) at the South Indian International Movie Awards in 2020, awards at the Behindwoods Gold Icons Awards in 2021, and a special award at the 15th Edison Awards in 2022.
