Early life and background
Jagjeet Sandhu was born Jagjit Singh Sandhu on 8 June 1991 in Himmatgarh Chhanna village, Amloh, in Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab, India. Raised in a lower-middle-class family, he attended a government school in his village and showed an early attraction to performance. By age seven he had joined a local theatre group as a child artist, and during his school years he travelled to nearby villages to take part in street plays.

After finishing school, Sandhu moved to Chandigarh to study theatre at Panjab University, where he completed an M.A. in Theatre.
