Early life and background

Jaineeraj Karnisingh Rajpurohit was born on 26 September 1978 in Hanuman Hatha, Bikaner, Rajasthan. Raised in a family with roots in the city, his father Karni Singh Rajpurohit worked as a teacher and his mother Radha Devi Rajpurohit is a homemaker. He grew up alongside a brother, Niranjan Rajpurohit Desalsar, and a sister, Jaya Purohit.

From an early age Jaineeraj wanted to act. At eight, his father enrolled him in the local theatre group Anurag Kala Kendra in Bikaner, and those formative experiences set the direction for his later training. He went on to study at the University of Rajasthan in Jaipur and completed a postgraduate diploma in theatre.

Career

Jaineeraj began his professional journey in performance and broadcasting, working with Jaipur All India Radio and Jaipur Doordarshan before moving to Mumbai in 2000 to pursue larger opportunities in film and television. He initially learned the craft behind the camera by working as an assistant director, and soon transitioned to acting in supporting roles on screen.

His early theatre work earned him recognition: he won a Best Actor award for his debut stage performance in the play Mareez Ulhas. On screen, he made an appearance in the Hollywood film Outsourced (2006) as a passenger on a train, and later appeared in Bollywood as Dinesh Gandhi in OMG: Oh My God! (2012).

Jaineeraj has been a steady presence in Hindi television. In 2008 he played Alok Shekhar on Colors TV’s Balika Vadhu and appeared in other series that year such as Laagi Tujhse Lagan, Miley Jab Hum Tum and Pari Hoon Main. Over the following years he continued to take varied supporting roles, including parts in Kaala Teeka and Dil Ko… Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai in 2015, and as Ranbeer in the second season of Naagin on Colors TV in 2016.

He has also worked in short-form projects and returned to film: in March 2017 he appeared in the short film HER – “Let The Voice Be Yours” on YouTube, and in 2022 he played the role of Mohan in the Bollywood film Salaam Venky. On television in 2018 and 2019 he appeared in Sufiyana Pyaar Mera (as Nadeem Shah) and Namune (as Mr. Lele) respectively.

Outside acting for film and TV, Jaineeraj joined Filmagic Creators Private Limited as a director in January 2019. He has said in interviews that his commercial work is extensive; he has featured in over 200 advertisements for brands ranging from ICICI and Fortune to Maggi and Ceat Tyres.
