Early life and background

Jatin Sial was born on 19 June 1968 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and grew up with ties to both Mumbai and his hometown of Nagpur. He completed a Bachelor of Commerce at Hislop College in Nagpur. Jatin comes from a family connected to Indian cinema: his maternal grandfather was actor and filmmaker Prithviraj Kapoor. His parents were Charanjit Sial, who worked as a coal mine owner, and Urmila Sial Kapoor, a homemaker. He has three sisters: Anuradha, Priti and Namita.

Career

Jatin began his career in the entertainment industry in the early 1990s. He worked as an assistant director on the 1990 film Ajooba, and made his acting debut on television with the series Tehkikaat on DD National in 1994. Through the 1990s he appeared in several TV shows including Dard, Vansh (1995), Papa (1996) and Rishtey (1999). He also assisted on the 1999 film Aa Ab Laut Chalen and appeared onscreen that year in the television series Saans.

On the big screen, Jatin has taken on character roles across a range of films. He played Ranjit in Aa Ab Laut Chalen (1999), appeared in White Noise (2004) as a character credited as Headhunter Malhotra, and had a small role in the 2006 film Vivah. He was cast as a lawyer in Ek Thi Daayan (2013) and portrayed a police officer in the 2022 film Forensic, which was released on a digital platform.

Television brought him wider recognition: his performance as Aditya Bali in the 2006 Zee TV series Kasamh Se was particularly well received. He later appeared in Tashan-E-Ishq (2015) as Raminder Taneja on Zee TV. In the streaming era Jatin moved into web series work, playing Dheeraj Ahuja in Netflix’s Mismatched (2020), Raja Janak in Ramyug on MX Player (2021), and Govind Shastri in the SonyLIV series Potluck (2021) and its 2023 sequel.

Outside scripted projects he has appeared in television commercials for brands such as Videocon, Ensure and Medlife. Jatin maintains his fitness through regular gym workouts and has spoken about enjoying South Indian cuisine.
