Early life and background

Jayvijay Sachan was born Jay Vijay Singh Sachan on 18 January 1987 in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh. Raised in a family that included his father Randheer Sachan and mother Sangeeta Sachan, he later made Mumbai his hometown. He completed his schooling at S.V.M Inter College, Hamirpur, and pursued higher education at Bundelkhand University and Amity University, Noida, earning a bachelor’s degree in political science and government and subsequent master’s degrees in European politics and policies and in journalism and mass communication.

Career

From an early age Jayvijay showed an aptitude for mimicry, often copying actors and developing impressions that would shape his professional life. He began performing comedy while still in college, gaining recognition at events including performances at IIT Kanpur and Amity University, Lucknow, and winning the Lucknow Mahotsav three years in a row.

His media career began in radio in 2009 as a host at Radio City Lucknow. He moved into broadcast production with the Essel Group in Noida in 2011 and then transitioned into television news roles, serving as a news anchor for Raftaar Time, Global News Network, and Janta TV between 2011 and early 2014.

Jayvijay made his television entertainment debut in 2014 on India’s Got Talent (Season 5), where he was the only stand-up comedian to reach the quarter-finals that season. He subsequently appeared on a string of reality and comedy shows, including The Great Indian Family Drama (2015), India’s Digital Superstar (2015), Saal Baawal (2016), and Zee TV’s Yaaron Ki Baarat (2016). His mimicry of Shah Rukh Khan on Yaaron Ki Baarat drew praise from the actor himself.

Outside television, Jayvijay has worked in digital comedy projects, appearing in a 2018 spoof video titled "If Your Boss Behaved like Shah Rukh Khan." In 2019 he also made a film appearance in Pagalpanti. In July 2022 he participated in Sony TV’s India’s Laughter Champion, where his blend of mimicry and comedy was highlighted by show hosts.

Over the course of his career he has also been active on stage and live events and has stated that he has developed more than 200 different voice impressions.
